View of headstones and tombs in a cemetery. A large monument marked "Macy" is seen at left (additional words on monument are not legible). Title transcribed from negative. Date range approximated by cataloger based on the year that film negatives came into use and the latest known dates indicated for other Hazard images in the Huntington's collection. Research shows this cemetery was Calvary Cemetery (Roman Catholic), which opened in 1844, and was also known as the Buena Vista Street cemetery. It is unclear whose grave this is, but possibly it refers to Dr. Obed Macy (1801-1857), a pioneer of Los Angeles.
