Plates in: [Photograph albums of camping trips to Santa Cruz Island and other Channel Islands], 1903-1905 / v. 1904, pg. [6]. "Indian relics, hunters arrived from San Miguel, 44" -- handwritten on photo. Shows campers in Native American-style costume holding bones, abalone and discs. 2018-0332. In September 1904, party of friends and relatives went for a cruise of the Santa Barbara Islands on the two-masted power steamer, Avalon. Camped on Santa Cruz Island at Quava Valdez, made excursions to Santa Rosa and Anacapa Islands. Island inhabited by ancestors of Chumash.
