Inside view of St. Anthony Catholic Church, built in 1955 and located at 1901 S. San Gabriel Blvd in the city of San Gabriel. Photo of a long stained glass window consisting of several images: a cross, hands, a chalice (possibly the chalice of the Eucharist), and possibly a robe and table or altar. It appears that this design is illustrating the reception of Holy Communion. Communion, also known as The Eucharist or The Lord's Last Supper, is the rite that Christians perform in fulfillment of the instruction that Jesus gave to do in His memory; it is a sacramental or memorial reenactment of what He did at His Last Supper. Stained glass windows have been described as 'illuminated wall decorations' and were commonly used in churches for decorative and informative purposes. Many windows, like the one seen here, are donated by members of a congregation in memory of their loved ones. Photo dated: December 23, 2006.
