Addie L. Ballou (Apr. 29th 1838 - Aug. 10th 1916). Born in Chagrin Falls, Ohio to Alexander Hamilton Hart and Polly Eldredge Hart, Addie Ballou grew up in Wisconsin and was a nurse during the Civil War. She moved to San Francisco in the 1870s and became notable as a women's suffrage activist, author and artist, painting the portrait of Califorina Governor Henry Markham in the State Capitol. She is buried in Igo Cemetery in Igo, California.
