Title supplied by cataloger. Jay Littleton Ballpark, formerly known as John Galvin and Ontario Ballpark, is located on the south side of the 10 Freeway at the corner of 4th and Grove in Ontario. This antique wooden stadium with covered grandstand was built in 1935 at a cost of $20,000 with a seating capacity of 2,500. The home teams have included the California Angels (Pacific Coast League - Spring Training) 1937-1942; Ontario Orioles (Sunset League) 1947; and Chaffey High School - present. Due to its 'old-time' stadium appearance, it has been used as a set for "The Babe", "A League of Their Own" and "The X-Files". Aerial view of the Ontario area, with the San Bernardino Freeway (10) running diagonally from the bottom left to the upper right; view is facing east. The Jay Littleton Ballpark is visible on the lower right; Grove Avenue runs horizontally in the extreme foreground and 4th Street runs vertically through the middle. The area is very sparse with small clusters of neighborhoods. Photograph was taken for Winter Mortgage Company. Photograph dated May 4, 1957.
