Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated June 12, 1950 partially reads, "A couple who gave up an opportunity to make a fortune in order to pioneer the Valley are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary today. They are Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brandenberger, operators of the Valley's first nursery. A week end [sic] celebration of their wedding anniversary was held at couple's ranch in the Malibu Mountains overlooking the Valley. The couple recalls once being offered land that is now the Hollywood Bowl site for a 'very few dollars.' '...I guess we could have made a fortune if we had bought the property,' Mrs. Brandenberger said. 'But we had heard of the San Fernando Valley and its opportunities--and we couldn't resist our pioneer urge to investigate.' The Brandenbergers did pioneer--25 acres in the vicinity of North Hollywood High School which they built into a rich nursery area." Mr. and Mrs. Brandenberger cut a cake during a celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary accompanied by family members.
