Description: Used in the Exhibit: Play by Play - A Century of L.A. Sports Photography, 1899-1989.
Action at Riviera Country Club, designed by George Thomas Jr. for the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Opened in 1927, Riviera has hosted numerous L.A. Open tourneys, as well as the 1948 U.S. Open and the 1983 PGA championship. During the 1932 L.A. Olympic Games, equestrian events were contested on land adjacent to the course. Photograph dated January 17, 1929.
