Description
Republican memorial, Berwick Rd., Ardoyne, North Belfast, 2012. Garden of remembrance to Republicans and civilians from Ardoyne, Bone and Ligoniel killed in the conflict. Easter lily to right; plaque: 'Oft from prison bars, oft from battle flashes/Oft from heroes’ lip, oftenest from their ashes', withnames of local Republican dead; Celtic cross: 'In loving memory of all from the Ardoyne, Bone, and Ligoniel who died because of Ireland’s Troubles; banner commemorating Republican Hunger Strikers; above 'It is not those who can inflict the most but those who can endure the most shall win.' (Terence MacSwiney, Republican hunger striker, died 1920).
