Description
One of a series of photographs found in a Salinas area house at 1900 El Camino Real. The house was scheduled for demolition when the freeway was built through Salinas. It was an area where many people connected with the railroad lived. Photos 696-702 were placed together in a rough wooden frame. According to Blaine P. Lamb of the California State Railroad Museum, Photos 700-702 may be construction near the steep Cuesta grade near San Luis Obispo. He thought S.L.O. on the shovel might refer to San Luis Obispo.
