Description
Men and women dressed in tuxedos and evening gowns dance at an event. A jazz combo made up of black musicians provide the music. Writing in the lower right corner reads, "Dance - Big Gym. MCH. 27. 1923," followed by the photographer's autograph, "Wright M. Pierce." Writing on the reverse of the photograph reads: "Freshman-Senior Reception given by class of 1923 - Big gym. First time Negro orchestra was used - Golden State Jazz Orchestra, gym decorated with crepe paper cheryr blossoms - Japanese lanterns - lattice work in corners."
