Description
The Valley to Vietnam series, produced by Sacramento Public Library, traces the arc of experience of Vietnam era veterans living in the Sacramento, California area. "Valley boy" Mike Rushton's originals run from Chico to Merced to a final stop in Sacramento, where his varsity basketball days at El Camino and banana splits at the Carnation Creamery form some of his most salient memories. With Vietnam in full swing, however, he was drafted and spent a tour in the Mekong River Delta - IV Corps - with the Ninth Infantry Division. Rushton came home to a build a family and enjoy a satisfying career in environmental management.
