Photograph caption dated June 9, 1960 reads, "Here are lovelies who will compete for coveted Miss Van Nuys title at Park Victory Plaza, Woodman avenue and Victory boulevard, tonight. Winner of 7 p.m. event will compete in state contest June 15-19, perhaps go on to July Miss Universe pageant. Girls are, from top, Sharon Baker, Joy Boussolari, Paul Adams, Claudia Clellan, Janice McDonald, Sheri Sidebotham, Jo Ann Bennett, Judy Krogstad, Kim Montgomery, Annette Hasty, Keren McNamara, Nancy Root, Dixie Attley and Joyce Phillips." These young women are posing pool-side at the Ambassador Hotel.
