Article states that more than 75,000 Japanese American incarcerees will be given opportunity to enlist in the War Relocation Work Corps program primarily for work within the incarceration camps, but also in outside agricultural industries where there was a shortage of workers. All participants of the program were required to pledge loyalty to the United States, agree to work not for wages but "small cash advances," and agree to serve throughout the duration of the war and 14 days thereafter. The War Relocation Authority (WRA), together with the Wartime Civil Control Administration (WCCA), the Civil Affairs Division (CAD) and the Office of the Commanding General (OFG) of the Western Defense Command (WDC) operated together to segregate and house some 110,000 men women and children from 1942 to 1945. The collection contains documents and photographs relating to the establishment and administrative workings of the (WDC), the (WRA) and the (WCCA) for the year 1942.
