Title supplied by cataloger. Photographer's caption reads, "The Governors Ball is the obligatory Oscar night gala attended by nominees and winners before they duck out for the real parties. Eventually, the ballroom would be clogged with linen-clad tables topped by beachball-sized spheres of yellow roses. A servile wait staff would peddle trays of Oscar-shaped salmon appetizers. An orchestra generating background music would rotate on a raised platform the size of a Chevron station. But four days before the Academy Awards the place was a mess. Workers carting wood dodged Oscar statues."
