A business card for A.G. Gedney of Washington, D.C., with a lock of President Abraham Lincoln's hair sewn to the card with black string. The lock contains about twenty dark brown strands of hair which were supposedly taken from a part of his head near the gunshot wound that killed him. Ms. text reads "Cut from the head of Abraham Lincoln by Dr. Brown the Embalmer and given by him to Mr. Gedney of Washington ; Cut from the vicinity of the wound." Printed text on the verso reads "A.G. Gedney, Copper, Steel & Lithographic Engraving & Printing. Washington. 466 Penna. Avenue." Item may not be paged without prior consent of the Curator of Rare Books.
