Photograph was edited for publication purposes Hal Styles was a radio host and producer. Photograph caption dated December 14, 1948 reads "Hal Styles, radio entertainer and head of radio school, sits by phone in home near scene of tragedy in which his daughter, Patricia, wounded her former fiance, Nate Sugarman, and then took her own life." Styles' daughter, 25-year-old Patricia Styles, shot 44-year-old Nathan N. Sugarman, her ex boyfriend, in North Hollywood. Miss Styles had a history of suicidal tendencies, and turned the gun on herself after shooting Sugarman.
