In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 46.
On corner sits large 3 storey house with basement surrounded by a well-clipped lawn with shrubs by the house; entrance is on right side up a set of stairs; roofed porch supported by columns surrounds 3/4ths of front 1st floor; on each side of covered porch is double windows with a partial roof above each; 2nd floor has tall rectangular windows, most time in pairs; 3 story has windows on mansard roof; above roof level is an angular tower.
Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
"Home of W.E. Gerber, erected in 1882. In 1885, Mr. Gerber was county officier and later President in 1906 of Cal. Nat'l Bank, one of the large banks in Sacramento."
