Mary Pickford was a Canadian-born silent film actress, famously known as "America's sweetheart," co-founder of American Artists film studio, and one of the original founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Photograph caption dated July 29, 1947 reads "To tell her version of Gregory LaCava film deal." Pickford appeared unexpectedly at the breach of contract trial in which LaCava claimed she hired him to direct a film.
