Description
Five women featured in fashions for May 1847. The woman in the top left wears her hair up and decorated with a coral colored ribbon. Her dress is blue with an off the shoulder neckline and short sleeves. The top portion of the bodice covers her shoulder and is composed of three tiers of material with flowers in the center. The bodice comes to a point at the waist and only a portion of the skirt is shown. The woman in the top center is turned away from the viewer. Her hair is adorned with a coral colored ribbon arranged around a bun. Her dress is yellow with an off the shoulder neckline and short sleeves. The fabric is box pleated and stitched at the center to create a trim at the neckline and cuffs. Only a portion of the skirt is shown. The woman in the top right of the frame is seated in a blue upholstered chair. She wears a pink, ruched bonnet with a pink feather cascading down the left side. Her dress is light purple with a "V" shaped design on the bodice, over a white blouse with a high, folded collar. She wears a pair of white gloves and holds a handkerchief. The woman on the bottom left stands and wears a white bonnet with white ribbon details on the outside and pink flowers on the inside. Her dress is a pink and purple hue with ornate embroidery and ruffle trim along the bodice and skirt. The collar and cuffs of a white blouse can be seen under the dress. Her hands are gloved. The woman in the bottom right stands and wears a white bonnet embellished with pink flowers and green leaves on the outside. Her dress is seafoam green with bows down the front of the bodice and either side of the front of the skirt. A red, blue, yellow and white striped shawl with fringed hems is draped over her arms. Her accessories include a blue parasol and white gloves.
