Description
Photograph of Mexican Americans workmen pausing for the camera as they make adobe bricks at the Casa Verdugo, ca.1900-1920. Two men (at left) are carrying a wooden stretcher filled with dirt, which appears to have been dug from the ground next to them where two shovels lay dug into the ground. A man on the right looks onward as the two men carry away the stretcher. Another man, on elevated grounds, stands near about a dozen rows of processed adobe bricks, which needs to be baked by the sun. Behind him are stacks of dried adobe bricks. To the left of the stacks of dried adobe bricks is a railroad track. Two rows of poles (utility?) line parallel with the railroad tracks. The men are wearing denim jeans, and buttoned up shirts. One man is wearing overalls. They all are wearing hats. Three of them have on sombreros.
