Folder #71 Close-up of wax figure of Sarah Winchester. Set of three photos of the wax figure by Ralph Rambo, sent to Clyde Arbuckle with cover memo: "Dear Clyde. So you always wanted a good picture of Sarah S. Winchester? Here 'tis. I took it. I have a photographic memory (he said modestly) and I remember her well. The Persian lamb coat and lap robe (paisley) are absolutely authentic. But God in Heaven, they sat her in a surrey with a fringe on top instead of a Victoria! Coachman is either a Mr. Carroll or Mr. Bishop. Rec'd. 40 acres from her estate 'they say.' If you haven't been in this wax museum you should -- for laffs! Gun collection good. Take Helen along and her camera. A flash would get more detail. These are hand held snaps--poor light. I think this face is character revealing, kind, generous, sensitive, strong-willed but 'crazy' -- NEVER! She built rooms like a child builds blocks -- for FUN! Research is revealing. From her 777 shares of Winchester stock her average annual income was $43,335 for the period 1881-1889 (The average income for a Winchester factory worker was $590 per year, same period). Kinda blows that '$1000 a day' story doesn't it? At least no income tax!"
