Big River, Mendocino County, California. Redwood Second growth cutting experiment plot. Two 32' logs from tree #94 one of the largest on the plot. The butt log is 27" diameter at breast height at small end and 32' long and contains about 1200 board feet. Note the large log on left, left by loggers 65 years before. It indicates size of timber in original stand. E. Fritz, March 1923
