Jockey Raymond York was a thoroughbred horse racing jockey who began his career in 1949 and retired in 1992; but on January 13, 2000 at the age of 66, he rode a 4-year-old gelding at Santa Anita Park, becoming the first jockey to have ridden in seven different decades. Throughout his career, York won 3,082 races.
Photograph caption dated December 30, 1954 reads, "Ray York, who rode A. J. Crevolin's Determine to victory in last spring's Kentucky and Santa Anita Derbies, gives his equine pal a hug for being the top money-winning horse of the year.
