Photograph caption reads: "Buddhist monks from the Namgyal Monastery in India begin the painstaking work on a Kalachakra Sand Mandala at the Museum of Natural History. Tenzin Ledgan carefully distributes minute amounts of sand while curious onlookers observe the process. Work will continue for six weeks". Photograph dated: July 6, 1989.
