Distant view of the statue of Sir William Mackinnon in a public garden. Inscription on the socket of the statue: "William Mackinnon [...] trough whose agency British East Africa was secured to Great Britain [...] died at London, 22nd June 1893." In the background town houses and in the distance the sea can be seen. To the left a road with two tracks is visible. Sir William Mackinnon (1823-1893) was a Scottish ship-owner and businessman. He established the British India Steam Navigation Company and the Imperial British East Africa Company.
