Description
This 1960 photograph of Merchant Street captures the street's north side, between Sixth and Seventh Streets. The first two structures - from left to right - are the Ramona Hotel at 1007 Sixth Street and the Ramona Garage at 606 J Street. Once reaching from Fifth to Eighth Streets, Merchant Street was shortened in the name of redevelopment in the 1960s, making it the shortest street in the city.
