Photograph was edited for publication purposes. The Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, located at 3939 S. Figueroa Street, was officially opened on July 4, 1959 by then Vice President Richard M. Nixon and was designed by Welton Becket; general contractor was L.E. Dixon Company. The last event at the arena was a Bruce Springsteen concert. The arena was closed on March 19, 2016 and demolished to make room for a new soccer stadium. Photograph caption dated March 31, 1964 reads "Denver Invader goalie Al Millar turns to find puck resting comfortably in netting as Norm Johnson (12) of the Blades raises hands high after tipping in Bob Solinger's long shot. It was the first Los Angeles goal in last night's 4-3 Blade win. Leo LaBine, background, joins the merriment and also raises his stick 'on high.'" The game was held at the Sports Arena.
