Photograph caption dated October 2, 1957 reads, "Blonde Barbara Thomason, right, 17, of Inglewood, is Miss Surfestival of 1954, while Sandy Wingert, 17, of Panorama City was awarded second place in Contest at Venice which had 37 entries. Miss Thomason, who along with Miss Wingert represents George Bruce Gymns [sic] in Van Nuys and Reseda, won her fifth crown of year, recently being named Miss Mussle Beach with Miss Wingert also second there."
