Description
This 1928 photograph provides as aerial view of the Sacramento County Hospital at Stockton Boulevard and V Street. Originally established in 1897, ground was broken on a new building in 1915 and underwent several additions and renovations before its closure in 1973. At the lower section of the photograph and facing Stockton Boulevard is the hospital's incomplete administrative building, constructed by Sacramento-based William C. Keating Construction for 358,000 dollars. In addition to containing a reception desk and the offices of the Hospital Superintendent and Head Nurse, the building contained the primary surgery unit, and an emergency operating room.
