Photograph of the construction of the City Garage in Pershing Square in Los Angeles, 1951. A deep pit has been dug in the middle of the square at center. Concrete is being poured in a long strip in the foreground at center by a large dump truck. At right, two large cylindrical supports are being built. In the background at left, a dirt road leads from the edge of the pit to the bottom. Several large buildings and many automobiles and pedestrians can be seen near the top of the pit. Legible signs include, from left: "Cosmetics", "Fountain Grill", "Coca Cola", "Grants", "Zeemans", "City Park Garage Park in the Park in 52", "Hotel", "Sports Club", "Quality Cafeteria", "Hotel Portsmouth", "Coldwell Banker & Company", "Eastside", "Walt's Auto Park", "Cafeteria Boos Bros", and "Sightseeing".
