This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Copy print of a stereo. Caption printed on photo: "140 City of San Francisco from Baldwin's Hotel." Text written under photo: "Powell Street 1880 looking from roof of Baldwin Hotel. 'Nob Hill' etc., in distance showing residence of Leland Stanford." Photo probably taken in 1887 since the Ferries and Cliff House Railroad cable tracks can be seen on Powell Street, but do not yet extend past Geary. Calvary Church and Temple Emanu-El, with its twin spires, can be seen.
