Description
Two women and a girl are depicted in a parlor. The woman on the left is sitting in a red velvet armchair and wears a blue bonnet with blue and black ribbon. Her dress is gray with widely spaced darker blue pinstripes. The sleeves are long and bell shaped and her white blouse has a narrow collar, with a pink bow at the front, and the blouse sleeves are gathered up close to the arm. She has her left hand resting on a little girl who is leaning on her right hand on her lap. The girl has her hair done in ringlets. She wears a green top with a narrow white collar with a pink bow and three-quarter length sleeves. Her skirt is black and is mid-calf length. The woman on the right is standing and reading a book, which she holds in her right hand. Her hair is up and tied with black ribbon. Her dress is pink with a black outline down the front of her bodice and her skirt, ending at her knee, almost in the appearance of an apron. The dress is long sleeved and has a narrow white collar. She also carries a flat fan in her left hand.
