Description
Mary Gordon discusses her book, “Pearl.” Martinson sets up the conversation by talking about a scene from the book in which a mother is notified that her daughter is on a hunger and water strike. Gordon then goes on to ask how does a mother convey to her child that life is worth living. The author then talks about her father’s conversion from Judaism to Catholicism. She also describes the background of the mother character and goes on to talk about mother and daughter relationships and her reasons for writing the book.
