Description
Peter Drucker's talk on the changing world economy at the Jonathan Club for an alumni event. Drucker says that the dollar is the worst major trade currency and that you have to know how to manage foreign exchange. He talks about reproduction rates and population in Europe and Japan, and retirement. He discusses productivity of knowledge workers, and asks how the work should be done. Drucker talks about the rapid economic development of China, and says that the world is becoming more integrated, but not economically. He says that the Japanese have not done well in Europe over the last few years, and that the Koreans are taking over the European market. Drucker explains that the computer has made management far less competent because all the data you get, is inside data. He says that the accounting system is the oldest management system, and that all the information you get from accounting is internal. Drucker also mentions a book by Kenichi Ohmae on developed countries. He goes on to answer questions from the audience on money, compensation structures, the gap between the highly educated and the non-educated, and decentralization and China. The video begins with the lecture in progress.
