Description
Image of the Japanese ship S.S. Taiyo Maru sailing on the ocean. Boy Scout Troop 41 from Sacramento sailed to Japan on this ship in 1929. From page 1 of Kubo pre-WWII photographs album (sac_kubo_0022).
James J. Kubo (b. 1916) was married to Tsugi Hamada (b. 1918) and opened an optometrist business in Sacramento in 1938. They had two sons, Ronald and Douglas, and a daughter, Beverly. He was incarcerated at Tule Lake Incarceration Camp until he left for Chicago and was drafted into the Military Intelligence Service (MIS). Mr. Kubo returned to Sacramento after completing his service at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
