Carl T. Rowan discusses his book, “Dream Makers, Dream Breakers.” He begins by explaining that his book is a biography of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Thurgood Marshall, and he talks about his political beliefs and how he changed Congress. He talks about Marshall’s policies on women’s rights and affirmative action. He describes some of Marshall’s friends in the court system, and his general acceptance of all people. Rowan talks about several television specials he has done on Chief Justice Marshall, and the awards he won for his programs. He ends the interview by discussing how Marshall felt about his successor Clarence Thomas.
