Photograph caption dated May 17, 1958 reads "Joan Jorgerson and Norway Consul Einer Upstrub." The Los Angeles City College student entered a contest sponsored by Oslo, Norway newspapers to find the most typical Norwegian girl. On a visit there, she used her grandparents' address to enter the contest, and won after returning home. The consul summoned her to his office in San Pedro to unravel the mystery.
