Photograph of George Nakano holding a painting with two others in front of the George Nakano Theatre at the dedication ceremony. Typed note on the front of photo reads: This official sesquicentennial painting by the renowned artist, Rita Schroeder, was presented to the City of Torrance by former Assemblymember George Nakano on June 21, 2005. The painting was commissioned by the California State Library Foundation, a project that was created and undertaken by Assemblymember Nakano to commemorate the 150 years since the founding of the State of California. A photo from: George Nakano Theatre scrapbook. The George Nakano Family Papers includes booklets, ephemera, scrapbooks, and other material related to George Nakano, former Assemblymember and Torrance City Council member. Subjects include the Jerome and Tule Lake incarceration camps, the Nakano family, and George Nakano's political career.
