Photograph of the Lone Pine in Nevada City, ca.1930. Trees crowd large rock base where the Lone Pine balances awkwardly on top. While the other trees appear to be bushy and adequately covered, the Lone Pine is skeletal and meek with roots exposed out of the rock. The skinny tree leans to the right.
