Description
1989-1307. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 42. On a corner sits a large wood-clad building with palm trees in front on both sides of the corner; in foreground is the roadway; the front of the building is on the right side of the corner and has an arched opening which leads to the entrance; on each side of the entrance are two rectangular windows; above the entrance is a large bay window structure with 6 divided windows; across an alleyway is another wood-clad building which is obscured by the palm trees in front. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "From 1892 to 1897 on Masons Laundry, was once uased as a swimming baths in the 'gay 90's'. The 'horse-cars' once ran to this corner... Front windows in the bldg. represent the upper balcony of the swimming baths."
