Description
One woman wears a dinner dress and the other woman wears full dress for 1831. The woman on the left wears a long green dress with short but voluminous puffed sleeves. The dress has an off-the-shoulders collar of lace covering the tops of the sleeves. She wears black flat shoes, white gloves and carries a fan in her right hand. She wears a gold necklace, gold and pink drop earrings, and a hair ornament that is the same color as her hair. She wears roses in her hair. The woman on the right wears a full lavender dress with short puffed lantern sleeves. The dress has an off-the-shoulder neckline. A lace ruffle edges the collar and the seams that run horizontally across the sleeve and down the front of the bodice. The belt is a wide lavender ribbon with an oval gold belt buckle. The lavender fabric has been twisted into a rope circling the dress. Along the top of the rope are leaf shapes, also of the same fabric. She wears white gloves with gold bracelets around each wrist, and black shoes. In her right hand she holds a fan and a white lace shawl is draped around her left arm. She wears gold and pink drop earrings, and a gold necklace. She wears a hair ornament in a similar style as the other woman. Pink roses are placed in her hair. She sits on a wooden chair. The woman on the left faces away from the viewer. There is a pink cushioned chair on the left and a table with a large vase on the right.
