Description
Staff and researchers at the Monastery, Mount Wilson Observatory (Left to Right): H.L. Miller (construction superintendent), Charles Greeley Abbot, George Ellery Hale, Leonard Rose Ingersoll (Abbot's assistant), Ferdinand Ellerman, Walter Sydney Adams, Edward Emerson Barnard, and C.S. Backus (Mount Wilson observing assistant). The men are seated on rocks in front of the Monastery building; a portion of an exterior wall and one of the porches are visible behind them. Some of the men are wearing suits, and some are wearing eyeglasses; most of them are wearing hats. Trees are in the surrounding area.
