Description
1989-1140. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], vol. A, leaf 12. A 3 storey, wood-clad building is seen from the corner of its left side; entrance is not defined; trees in bloom (?) stand on the sidewalk; two wings on each end of the building have triangular pediments with a cross at the apex of each; the middle section of the building is slightly recessed from the two wings; rectangular windows on each floor are distinguished: 1st floor has a round arch with a keystone, 2nd floor has round-arched pediments & 3rd floor has triangular pediments. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Christian Brothers' College, first erected in 1876, this building stood until about July, 1923, when it was torn down to make way for the new Weinstock Lubin & Company building."
