Description
2008-2776 PRINTS-F-SIZE: MINES & MINING: GOLD: YUBA COUNTY Shows what is probably Rose's Bar located on south bank of Yuba River. Foreground shows house, men sitting and standing outside, river is behind with mining camp visible to right, hills and trees form background. Rose's Bar probably named after John Rose who opened a trading post in 1840's. By 1850's, camp had three stores, three boarding houses and three saloons. Originally in: Gleason's pictorial, Scenes in California, vol. VI, no. 12 (whole no. 142), p. 184-185, March 25, 1854.
