Located at 1243 Trenton Street, the Mediterranean/Churrigueresque structure was designed by Morgan, Walls & Clements and built in 1925. When the Los Angeles Evening Herald and Express merged, it became the Herald-Express Building. After the Examiner merged with the Los Angeles Herald-Express in 1962, it was demolished sometime between the mid and late 1960s. Bunting drapes on the Herald-Express building as a Shriners hillbilly band performs on a trailer decorated with bales of straw. The flag over the entrance says "Nobles Welcome." A young boy leans on a trash can labeled "Waste recepticle for pedestrian use." Photograph caption dated dated June 23, 1950 reads: "Shrine band treats Herald to farewell serenade. The Evening Herald and Express employes [sic] are treated to a farewell serenade by the Hillbilly Band brought to the Shrine convention by El Jebel Temple of Denver. The band is pictured at the fron tentrance of the newspaper plant."
