Description
Construction workers at the Airship Hangar No. 1 at Moffett Field. The hangar consists of interlocking steel girders resting on a heavily reinforced concrete pad. The hangar is 1133 feet long, 308 feet wide, and 198 feet high. The floor covers 8 acres. The mooring mast would move along the set of double rails to guide the airship into the hangar.

Images compressed to 800 pixels across the long dimension and to JPEG format. Scanning outsourced to Luna Imaging Inc. as part of an LSTA Grant funded by the California State Library in 2003-2004. Scanning hardware is unknown.
