In: Bakersfield : photograph album.
Shows two-story building, ornamental tower on roof, awnings on ground floor windows, banners and bunting hang from roof. R.H. Herron Company, oil well supplies located to right of Redlick's, a blacksmith shop visible in background.
Department store owned by four German American brothers, Henry, Samuel, A.L. and Joseph (who managed the store). First opened a store in 1895 in Galtes Block of Bakersfield. In 1901 moved to new location, J.B. Berges Building, designed for the brothers by Orville Lee Clark. In 1911 store moved to larger quarters on corner of Chester and 18th St.
