Description
Mr. Timoleone (Timo) Del Piero (c.1892-1982) and his wife Caterina Comelli Del Piero (c. 1894-1985), the parents of Rita Stringari. They had three children (Rita Stringari, Aurora Mitchell, and Richard Del Piero). Mr. Del Piero immigrated from Italy in 1921 and his wife followed the year after. He first worked at the Davenport Cement Plant. In 1924, they leased land from the Gibernson family near Moss Landing and the former town Santa Rita. They returned to Watsonville circa 1940 and bought farmland on Amesti Rd and Lewis Rd, Watsonville. They continued farming artichokes, lettuce, and broccoli. The Del Pieros belonged to the Valley Catholic Church, the Sons of Italy, and the Italian Catholic Federation. Mr. Del Piero served in the Italian Armed Forces in WWI. 1910/1914.
