Print ad created for the 50th anniversary of KCBS San Jose on April 3, 1959: ...and 50 years later--April 3, 1959--another stir is being created around San Jose, around the San Francisco Bay Area, around the nation...as KCBS Radio, the direct descendant of the station operated by Charles Herrold and his associates in 1909, celebrates the Golden Anniversary of Radio Broadcasting, with special broadcasts and ceremonies in San Jose. The station pictured above has been completely recreated from the original parts and will be on display, beginning Friday, April 3, in the American Trust Building in San Jose. Special broadcasts: Larry Lesueur, CBS Correspondent, addressing the Sigma Delta Chi "Deadline Dinner" at San Jose State College --8:30 PM--Thursday Dedicatory Ceremonies, downtown San Jose, placing of plaque on original site of the Charles Herrold station--the birthplace of radio broadcasting--9:30 AM--Friday Mitch Miller Show, originating in San Francisco, with guests including cartoonist Hank Ketcham, attorney Jake Ehrlich, jazz critic Ralph Gleason--7:10 PM--Sunday 1909 The First Radio Broadcasting Station in the World 1959 The Bay Area's First Station in the World of Entertainment
