Photograph article dated August 30, 1960 partially reads, "Objectives of organized labor are consistent with the national goals in contributing to the 'health, strength, safety and happiness of the American people,' a Valley labor leader declared Monday. John Snider, president of District 77, International Association of Machinists, told the North Hollywood Rotary Club that unionism was 'not superimposed upon the United States workers by any clique of so-called power-hungry labor bosses. 'Unions were one of the necessities that grew out of a grim economic order in the U. S.,' he explained. 'As such they reflected a typically American response of united action for self-help and self-improvement.'" Pictured are John Snider, right, and N.H. Rotary vice president, Art Campbell.
